Our systems

With three airplanes, three measuring cars and our surveyors, we carry out a variety of assignments all over the world. From GPS measuring, mobile mapping to airborne LiDAR. Technologies that can all be combined to achieve the best possible result.

Airborne operation

Every year Kavel 10 flies more than 20,000 square kilometers of data with 3 aircraft. These projects are located in locations throughout Europe. In addition to the collection of images, a lot of airborne LiDAR is collected with our Riegl LiDAR scanner.

Technam P2006T

After the purchase of the PH-KIO and the PH-KAT, the fleet will be expanded from q4-2021 with a 3rd Technam P2006T the PH-KXT. These versatile survey aircraft are equipped with economical Rotax moteren. As a result, the aircraft consume significantly less fuel and are quieter than other survey aircraft. Because this model aircraft has two survey hatches, they are very suitable for multiple collection.

Nadir and oblique camera

Kavel 10 has a combined aerial camera. This camera can simultaneously collect nadir and oblique from one fixed setting. This precisely calibrated set-up is therefore extremely suitable for carrying out high-quality 3D collection. The camera is stabilized in the aircraft by means of a GSM 4000 stabilization mount. The collection with this camera can be expanded with simultaneous collection of LIDAR.

The camera is widely applicable for small projects to large 3D city models. By combining with LIDAR, projects can be collected very efficiently and accurately at low inspection heights.

Airborne LiDAR

Kavel 10 has a high-quality airborne LIDAR scanner. This scanner uses the Riegl Waveform technique and measures up to 1,250,000 points per second.

LiDAR is suitable for high-precision capture of the areas to be inspected. A big advantage of LiDAR is that it can measure through vegetation. This enables us to eliminate vegetation that is present afterwards in the measurement.

The scanner is easy to combine with the collection of images, creating a combined dataset with high quality. The system has a field of view up to 75º degrees which allows it to map large areas with flight hours.

Large frame aerial camera

Kavel 10 has a large frame nadir camera. This nadir camera has a footprint of 30,460 x 14,100 pixels and is one of the largest available in the market.

The camera can simultaneously record RGB, RGBI and CIR in one flight movement and is based on BSI-CMOS sensors. The camera is stabilized in the aircraft by means of a GSM 4000 stabilization mount. This stabilization ensures that all flight movements are corrected for an optimal result of the collection. The camera can also be used at low heights and can collect images up to a ground resolution of 1.5 centimeters GSD.

Mobile mapping

Kavel 10 annually gains thousands of kilometres of roads with our mobile measuring vehicles. These are equipped with mobile LiDAR scanners and can collect point clouds under high accuracy while driving with traffic. In addition to this scanner, the system is also always equipped with a high-resolution panoramic camera that collects footage.

3D-LiDAR scanner

Kavel 10 has a high-quality mobile LIDAR scanner. This mobile mapping system equipped with Riegl LiDAR scanners is extremely suitable for collecting high-quality point clouds from the road. Because the scanner is mounted on a car, it can ride along with traffic. As a result, there is minimal inconvenience for the rest of the traffic. Kavel 10 has a lot of experience in collecting LIDAR data and our specialists process LiDAR projects in-house on a daily basis. This ensures that we can switch quickly and deliver high quality to our customers. The LiDAR system is equipped with a 360 degree panorama camera that simultaneously captures images.

360 degrees panoramic images

Kavel 10 has a high-quality custom-developed 360-degree panoramic camera. This 150 Megapixel camera is the most high quality camera in the market at the moment. By means of a GPS and IMU, the images are accurately geo-referenced. The system can optionally be expanded with our mobile LIDAR system. This system is often used for municipal collection and inspection jobs of roads.

The surveyor

In addition to all the collection on vehicles, we also carry out many measurements with our surveying teams. These surveyors carry out measurements to check, fit in or supplement the mobile collection. Our surveyors also carry out many other surveying assignments such as construction dimensions, DTM measurements, deformation measurements and static scanning jobs.

Static scanning

If a high-precision measurement is required, our surveyors can scan statically. This method of scanning delivers a point cloud with millimetre-level accuracy.

GPS and Total Station

Our surveyors are equipped with modern GPS and TS equipment. They use this equipment for various geometric applications. Based on the client’s request, it is determined which measuring instruments are suitable for the geometric assignment.

Leveling

In the case of height measurement by means of leveling, a height is accurately conveyed by means of a leveling instrument. This is often used to accurately transfer a NAP gauge height to a point that is visible from another measurement technique.

The leveling between two baak* setups is called a stroke. The distance between the beacon (stroke length) is taken as large as possible, provided that the beacon* is easy to read. Working with one baak holder is possible, two is better. When the beacon has been read and the hindman and the observer with the instrument move forward, the front bar holder must leave his baak at the positioning point and rotate it around its longitudinal axis.
